German pronunciation: Word Stress

How to stress German words? Don’t worry, it is not too difficult. You have to learn the separable and inseparable prefixes. Have a look at the video and do the exercises, that are in the video. With enough practice, you’ll be proficient in German pronunciation!

1. Words with two syllables

frequent endings: -e, -en, -er, -in, -ig, -ich, -heit, -keit, -ung 

2. Words with three syllables & inseparable prefix

You REALLY need to learn these by heart:  be-, ge-, ent-, ver-, zer- 

These prefixes are not separable from the verb. They are called inseparable prefixes.

seperable prefixes:  ab-, an-, auf-, aus-, bei-, ein-, fest-, her-, hin-, los-, mit-, vor-, weg-, zu-

There are more separable prefixes than inseparable. This is why you need to learn the inseparable prefixes!

    The click on the button Go to the video part I does not work, it opens youtube but not the correct video, you have to right click, copy the link, paste it into another window and is ok. All the rest is great, thank you.
